Why do Americans hate French?

I didn't read the whole question. It really doesn't have anything to with the actual events; most people (not just Americans) don't know the history of French warfare as well as you do. It's more about the American ideal of cultural superiority. There are a lot of Americans who truly believe that the USA is the greatest country on earth in every way. They don't know all of that historical stuff, nor do they care to learn about it. They just look for reasons to proclaim themselves as the greatest country ever, and one easy way is to cling to the belief that they won WW2 single-handedly alongside failing allies.
