Why is calling a slate mounted on a school clroom wall no longer called a blackboard with chalk?

Do I understand that now they use a device called a 'white board' with a different way of writing on it and then erasing? What a great way for me to honor the first day of 'Black History Month' ,, Will political correctness ever just go away?
