My game file got deleted somehow and i need it back?

i was playing virtual villagers on my comp and it was being alittle slow so i exited the game and restarted my comp when i went back to play my game my file was gone. no one else is home so no one deleted it. i know everything has to be saved somewhere and i want to get it back i need help from someone who is really good with computers. anyone up for the challenge??
