i'd say he's interested, but he's trying to make it look like it could be just friends, since you aren't showing signs you like him back. i'd hang out with him and his frineds, maybe suggest hanging out yourself. he probably thinks you're uninterested. from there, you can probably tell more if he likes you as a friend or more.
